The Kerala High Court today allowed pre-arrest bail to Bhagyalakshmi, Sajna NS (Divya Sana), and Sreelakshmi Arackal who have been accused of assaulting controversial YouTuber Vijay P Nair. (Bhagyalakshmi K. v. State of Kerala)
Justice Ashok Menon passed the order this morning.
The three women had gone to Vijay P Nair’s office on September 26 and poured black ink and nettle oil on his face for his vulgar remarks against one of the women and slurs on ‘feminists’ generally in his YouTube videos.”She is camouflaging herself as a feminist”, arguments in Youtuber assault case; Kerala High Court reserves order
The assault was streamed live on Facebook. After they threw black oil on his face, they left the house with his phone and laptop.
Before the Court, they had asserted that they were constrained to take action against Nair after their complaints to the police about Nair’s offensive YouTube video elicited no response
Nair had also intervened in the hearing, asserting that the three women ought not to be granted bail and that they were wrong to take law into their own hands.
